In our annual post-PAB show, we do our best to hold ourselves together and keep our voices intact while we reflect on yet another amazing event. Thank you to everyone who participated in PAB2011. Videos from the event will be published over the summer. And, we may be able to locate and publish videos from PAB2006.
Our annual “travel to PAB” podcast to help prepare you for the main event. This edition includes tips from Bruce Murray and Andy Bilodeau, both of whom were at the first two PABs and will be making their triumphant return at PAB2011.

DISCUSSION WITH MARK POIRIER (from April 2009)
Our guest on this week’s show is Friday night kickoff keynote speaker, IMAX Director of Photography Mark Poirier. Mark was going to conduct a workshop for us at PAB2009 and was called away at the last minute for a high profile IMAX video shoot. We found this interview from April 2009 which is still fresh, interesting and relevant today.

Pictures and sound to tell a story
Know the limitations of your tools, and know how to break them
While Mark battled his spotty connection at the “No Bandwidth Motel” in San Diego, Tod Maffin joined Bob (and sometimes Mark) to discuss being a PAB “Lifer”, and also to take a look at how the space has progressed in the last 6 years.
We also discuss the founding of CanadaPodcasts.ca , and Tod helps us with new show announcements. The voice in the background Tod only acknowledges at the very end is Jocelyn Tomkinson, aka Ask A Wheelchair Girl
Broca’s Area alumni Dave Brodbeck and Isabelle Michaud spent a couple of nights at Mark and Andrea’s house this past weekend (they happened to be in the neighbourhood).
So, one evening, while hanging out in “Margaritaville” and Bob was doing something else, they turned on the recorder to talk about PAB2011 and Dave Brodbeck’s JOLT! “Your story deserves no attention whatsoever.”
While Mark flew the friendly skies to San Diego, Bob and Tom Merritt managed to connect over Skype to talk about Tom’s return as a PAB-two-timer (not as bad as it sounds), his experience with storytelling and the JOLT! he will deliver this coming weekend on audience engagement.
Remember, PAB2011 is just four days away. Register as soon as possible to ensure you have your choice of menu options for the Saturday sit-down lunch.
